Desc: Vivre le Downtown Eastside: Directed by Johann Nertomb. The Downtown Eastside (DTES) is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city of Vancouver, Canada. It faces significant social issues such as poverty, drug addiction, high crime rates, homelessness, mental illness, and prostitution. Despite these challenges, the DTES is also known for its strong community resilience and history of social activism. Among the diverse communities residing in the Downtown Eastside, there is a minority Francophone community. For two months, Johann Nertomb documented the daily lives of some of these members.
